What is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy (also called low-level laser therapy or photobiomodulation) is a treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate healing and improve cellular function. It’s non-invasive, painless, and doesn’t use heat, so you just feel gentle light on your skin.
Key benefits:
- Speeds up recovery
- Reduces inflammation
- Boosts circulation
- Enhances skin health
- Relieves pain
What to Expect During a Red Light Therapy Session
How Does Red Light Therapy Work?
Red light therapy uses low-level red and near-infrared wavelengths that penetrate the skin without heat or damage. These wavelengths are absorbed by the mitochondria (your cells’ “powerhouses”), which boosts ATP (energy) production.
With more energy available, your cells can:
- Repair and regenerate more effectively.
- Reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.
- Improve circulation and collagen production to support healing and healthier tissue.
Because red light reaches surface layers and near-infrared penetrates deeper tissues, the therapy can benefit both skin health and muscles, joints, and tendons—making it useful for recovery, pain relief, and overall wellness.
